spring pancakes

sunday breakfast
spring shoes

Turning clocks to summertime, cooking new foods, it feels like a real spring when there is sun. Today is a gray day, the kind you want to spend on a sofa wrapped into a blanket, and a third day of mysterious searing joint pain. Or not so mysterious, perhaps. But today there were also the best pancakes of my life, lots of coffee and magazines.

On most other days I’ve been feeling well. And not just well, but better than ever in my life. Dreaming vivid dreams in the night. Feeling awake before my morning coffee. No fighting off sleep after every meal. A couple of days ago I laughed so hard my stomach hurt (in a good way), tears streaming down my face, because I just couldn’t stop laughing once I got started. I think it’s been years since I laughed like that. I hope there is more where that came from.

Enough is enough.

I couldn’t agree more.

green
gardening..

Happy Easter! I am off to a week long holiday, visiting family, and boy do I need it… just to sleep really late, read a lot and eat some chocolate. Oh, and perfect my tofu cheesecake recipe.

Lately I’ve been into cooking:

carrotcake
world’s best carrot cake, recipe from this book.

Cooking makes me happy. I miss those days when I had frequent dinner parties with friends… it’s difficult to get motivated when it’s just me. To combat food boredom I am thinking of trying out a new recipe each week. I have a ton of veggie cookbooks to pour through.

Inspiration: Seitti’s amazing food photos (all vegan).
She also contributes to vegalicious.

P.S. Oh no… I kinda like these.

Midsummer foodness

midsummer dinner
midsummer dessert

Oh, the colours and tastes of summer foods… strawberries, ice cream and coffee while watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the millionth time.

Tomorrow: Shoe-shopping for shoes that don’t hurt my feet. I’ve got an old dance injury on my left foot that kills me some times (and that should be checked out, I know). Recently I’ve realised the girlier the shoes, the better they are for my feet. I should always wear something with atleast a little heel, not all these bad van’s and converse, sigh… And I am not a heels kinda girl… yet.

winter day

happiness

And suddenly it’s a real winter. Snow on top of roofs, frozen grass that crackles under steps. For once I remember to change the clocks to wintertime, but wake up at eight anyway. Laundry, school work, I even work on the essays I’ve procrastinated with for six months. Two journal pages and the clock isn’t even twelve. I like today.

p.s. world vegan day goodness: post punk kitchen, pizarro comics and (naturally) vegan porn.

vegan day!

think vegan

World vegan day is on Sunday.

The folks at veganfreaks nail it:

I feel sorry for you, one guy said, and the other followed up, seriously asking “Have you ever had real meat? You know, vennison? Bear? If you had any of that, you wouldn’t be vegetarian.”I told him that I had eaten vennison in the past, but that it didn’t do much for me (even when I liked meat) and that now, I’d not be into it either. But I was kind of taken aback by the question. I mean, I’ve heard a lot of comments from carnivores ignorant about veganism, but this one was certainly a new one. In that moment, I felt just a tiny bit of what I imagine a lesbian must feel like when she’s told that she’d be straight if only she got a good fuck from a man.

If I’d be inclined to steal a child I’d like this one. (now that came out wrong.)
