It is difficult to describe how much better life is these days; I am already forgetting how lousy I felt before. But this I remember feeling:
On the third day without gluten, I looked up and realized I was clear. It was as though I had been wearing smudgy contacts for years, and someone had just cleaned them for me. I’ve been in a brain fog for years. Years. And now, I feel clear. -gluten free girl
I feel clear.
And happy.
Yesterday we had a really good lecture, or more like a discussion, on creativity and intuition. What they are, what they mean to us, how to use them better. I tend to go through life trusting my intuition, my gut feeling. Yet pure intuition is supposed to be almost feeling-free. Moments of clarity. The “I had to” in Silvia’s post. And when I think of those times when I had to, there is not much fear, just calm.
We also discussed ten years silence, the most relieving thing I’ve heard in a while. It takes time. It is supposed to take time.
Have a good weekend!

Ken Barber took a picture of me.
Today me and some other TAIK students attended a workshop held by Ken Barber, type designer and letterer. Monograms was the topic of the day, so after a lecture on them we worked on our own versions based on our initials. I have done this assignment before, but I guess one can always try to approach it differently. And maybe I’ll get some monogrammed towels or something one day… err… not.
Ken had some design tips for us:
Draw… a lot!
Sketch small.
Avoid fussiness.
and a quote:
“If you improve your drawing skills, you will become a better designer. Period.”
-Doyald Young

I’d love to.. How about in Amsterdam?
Mystery postcard #6 arrives, the plot thickens. Helsinki sky was very bright today, I need to take my camera out more often.

Three months ten days until guess what?

Otto goes glutenfree. (And needs a little bribery to stay still for picture taking.) I’ll get peanut M&Ms for the dogsitting, not that I wouldn’t do it otherwise.
Portrait of me painted by Eero, two years ago. Got it on my wall finally today.
I am dogsitting until next Sunday. Otto likes to spend his midmornings napping on the very edge of the wide bed. He also has very strong opinions on which way we should walk so it’s best if I just follow him.
P.S. thanks Story Trading for linking me.

Papaya + apple make a good simple fruitsalad. Especially for a day off -breakfast.
Two essential books I’ve already read, but they belonged to my ex.. I got my own copies as a present to myself. Now I can get back to them whenever I want to.
Hungry again, time for lunch.
