sell out school

megauniversity-monster, upcoming illustration for Kulttuurivihkot-magazine.
This week I’ve worked on two illustrations. The other one, above, is about a proposal to form a new megauniversity by joining three universities (the design school I go to is one of them). The new megauniversity would be funded by corporations and would maybe have high study fees. In Finland university studies have traditionally been free for all, funded by state. We pay really high taxes to compensate (and parents don’t have to save up a college fund for their kids).
This would be a step in a direction where study place couldn’t be secured by talent only. Heavy involvement with corporations would probably change the nature of studies as well. Students are (obviously) dead against it all! Despite this it’s been approved by the school boards and looks like it’s going to happen in a few years time.
On a more positive note: Irene featured my work in Bloesem, her lovely inspiration blog. Thanks Irene!
